Virat Kohli becomes first batsman to hit 6 fifties this season

The Bangalore-Chennai encounter is the shortest scheduled game at the IPL - the previous record being Delhi-Punjab game at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi on May 17, 2008, which was reduced to 11 overs-a-side. Punjab had won by six runs under D/L method.



Virat Kohli is the third batsman to manage 600 runs or more in IPL 2013 - 634 (ave.45.28) in 16 matches, joining Chris Gayle (708) and Michael Hussey (640).
Kohli's above aggregate is a record by a captain in an IPL season, eclipsing Sachin Tendulkar's tally of 618 (ave.47.54) in 15 matches in 2010.
Kohli (56 not out off 29 balls) became the first batsman to hit six fifties at the IPL 2013. He has emulated Gautam Gambhir's tally of six fifties as captain in 2012.

Chris Gayle is the first batsman to manage 700 runs in an IPL season twice - 733 (ave.61.08) in 15 matches in 2012 and 708 (ave.59.00) in 16 matches in 2013.Gayle is the first batsman to complete 50 sixes (51) in the present competition. He has extended his IPL record for hitting most sixes (180).Gayle is the first batsman to complete 50 sixes in successive years at the IPL - 59 in 2012 and 51 in 2013.

Gayle is the first player to hit 400 sixes in Twenty20.Bangalore's tally of 103 sixes is the highest at the IPL, surpassing Mumbai's 101.Gayle is the first batsman to complete 5500 runs in Twenty20 - 5512 (ave.45.55) in 145 matches.Dwayne Bravo (25 at 17.84 runs apiece in 16 matches) is the second bowler after James Faulkner (26) to complete 25 wickets at the IPL 2013. He is also the first bowler to bag 25 wickets for Chennai in an IPL season.

RCB managed 100 off just 7.5 overs, equalling the fastest team's record of reaching 100 at the IPL. While playing against Pune Warriors at Bangalore on April 23, 2013, RCB had reached 100 off 7.5 overs.With his career-best figures (4/17), Zaheer has completed his 100 wickets in Twenty20 - 101 at an average of 27.41.Suresh Raina has registered his seventh duck in Twenty20 - his fifth at the IPL.Vinay Kumar took 23 wickets at 21.43 runs apiece in 16 matches - a record for a Bangalore bowler in an IPL season.
