Virat Kohli becomes India's 32nd Test captain

Adelaide, Dec 9: Virat Kohli today became India's 32nd Test captain when he led the side in the opening match of the four-game series against Australia here at Adelaide Oval.

MS Dhoni was ruled out of the match due to injury and Kohli was chosen as skipper for this Test. Dhoni is set to return for the second game in Brisbane starting December 17.

"It is a pleasure for me. My first Test hundred was on this ground (Adelaide Oval). Very special for me," Kohli said at the toss on his Test captaincy debut and playing in Adelaide. The 26-year-old Kohli is playing his 30th Test. He has already captained India in ODIs.

India's first Test skipper was CK Nayudu who led the team against England in 1932 at Lord's.
